IPTV apps are available on almost every major platform, but how they install, and which ones you can use, depends on the device's operating system. Android-based systems allow native provider apps and sideloading; closed systems such as iOS, tvOS, Tizen, webOS, Roku and Vega OS only install from their official stores. This platform-by-platform guide shows what to expect on each.

Android-based platforms
Fire OS, Android TV, Google TV and Android allow installing apps from outside the store (with a setting enabled), which is how provider apps like XCodes IPTV's app for Fire TV and Android are installed. Popular players such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters also run here.
Tip: Enable "Install unknown apps" only for the Downloader app or browser you use, and only while installing.
Vega OS (some Fire TV devices)
Amazon's Vega OS, used on devices such as the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, doesn't allow apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. Native Android IPTV apps can't be sideloaded there. Choose a Fire OS device or a Google TV device instead.
Apple platforms (iOS, iPadOS, tvOS)
Apps come only from the App Store. Look for players that support Xtream Codes or M3U, such as GSE Smart IPTV or IPTVMX. See IPTV on iPhone & iPad and IPTV on Apple TV.
Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS)
Apps come only from each TV's store. Availability varies by model, year and region. Smart IPTV and other players are common choices; some use a website to upload your playlist with the TV's MAC address. See Samsung and LG.
Roku
Roku can't install Android apps, and IPTV player options in its store are limited. Most people add a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device to the same TV.
Windows and macOS
Install desktop players from official stores or developers' websites. VLC can open M3U links for basic testing. See Windows and Mac.
Choosing IPTV apps across a household
| Screen | Typical app |
|---|---|
| Lounge TV with Fire TV Stick | Native XCodes IPTV app |
| Bedroom Samsung TV | Compatible player from Samsung store |
| iPad | App Store player |
| Laptop | Desktop player |
One XCodes IPTV account works across all of them, within your plan's connections.
Keeping IPTV apps healthy
- Update apps from their official sources.
- Clear caches occasionally on Android-based devices.
- Uninstall apps you don't use.
- Restart devices weekly.
Checking your device's operating system
| Device | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Fire TV | Settings → My Fire TV → About |
| Google TV / Android TV | Settings → System → About |
| Samsung TV | Settings → Support → About This TV |
| LG TV | Settings → General → About This TV |
| Apple TV | Settings → General → About |
Knowing the exact system tells you immediately whether native apps can be installed or whether you need a store player.
Summary
IPTV apps run on nearly every platform, but installation rules differ: Android-based systems (Fire OS, Android TV, Google TV, Android) support native provider apps and sideloading; Apple, Samsung, LG, Roku and Vega OS devices rely on their official stores. Match the app to each device's system, and see XCodes IPTV device compatibility for specifics.
