IPTV on Smart TV
Whether IPTV runs on your smart TV depends on its operating system, not its brand. Here is how to find out what yours runs and which setup gives the best experience.
Depends on TV system
Does XCodes IPTV work on Smart TV?
Most smart TVs can run XCodes IPTV. TVs with Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV built in install the native app via Downloader code 5496614. Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs use a compatible IPTV player from their app store. On any TV, you can also plug in a Firestick or Google TV device.
Compatibility
- Android TV / Google TV televisions: native XCodes IPTV app. See Android TV and Google TV
- Fire TV smart TVs (Fire OS): native app, same steps as Firestick
- Samsung (Tizen): compatible IPTV player. See Samsung TV
- LG (webOS): compatible IPTV player. See LG TV
- Roku TV and other systems: Roku cannot install Android apps; we recommend connecting a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device
What you need
- To check your TV's operating system, look under Settings > About or Support > About This TV
- An internet connection; Ethernet is recommended for TVs, which often have weaker Wi-Fi than streaming sticks
- A free HDMI port if you plan to add a streaming stick
Pick the right setup for your TV
Follow the path that matches your TV's operating system.
- Identify the operating system
Open Settings > About on the TV. Note whether it says Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, Tizen, webOS or Roku.
- Android, Google or Fire TV
Install the native app using the XCodes IPTV app guide and Downloader code 5496614.
- Samsung or LG
Install a compatible IPTV player from the TV's app store and sign in with your XCodes IPTV details. Ask our team for a current recommendation.
- Anything else
Plug a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device into an HDMI port and follow the Firestick guide.
Tips for smooth IPTV on Smart TV
- A dedicated streaming stick usually updates faster and runs IPTV apps more smoothly than a TV's built-in system.
- Turn off motion smoothing for live sports if the picture looks unnatural.
- If your TV supports it, set the HDMI input to enhanced or 4K mode for UHD channels.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| I can't find an IPTV player in my TV's store | App availability varies by TV model and region. Ask our support team for an option that works on your model, or use a streaming stick. |
| Wi-Fi drops while streaming | TVs often have weak Wi-Fi antennas. Use Ethernet or move the router closer. |
Smart TV IPTV FAQ
Do I need a Firestick if I have a smart TV?
Not always. Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV televisions run the XCodes IPTV app directly. Samsung and LG TVs can use a compatible player, but many people add a Firestick for the native app experience.
Does XCodes IPTV work on Roku?
Roku devices can't install Android apps, so the XCodes IPTV app is not available on Roku. Connect a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device to the same TV instead.
Can my smart TV show 4K IPTV channels?
Yes, if the TV is 4K-capable and your internet connection is fast enough (roughly 25 Mbps or more). Choose the 4K or UHD version of a channel where available.
